July 4th Treat Ideas

Fireworks CookiesPictured here are my July 4th Fireworks Cookies.  Of course, I got the idea from Martha Stewart’s Fireworks Cookies – she’s amazing.  Hers are more delicate, done using a pastry bag for the red and blue, whereas I am partial to using the Wilton squeeze bottles I buy at Michael’s, so my lines end up being thicker.  I may try Martha’s way next year.

They are fairly simple to create, using either method – after covering your sugar cookie with your white Royal Icing, you then make a bulls-eye type design with the red and blue (dot in the middle, then alternate colors with circles around the dot) – all while the white icing is still wet.  Then, using a tooth pick, you start at the center and drag the colors to the outer edge.

Here are two of the other fun patriotic treats I came across.  You can find these, and a bunch of other cute ideas, on my July 4th Pinterest Page.

July 4th Dipped Strawberries

Strawberries dipped in white chocolate with blue & red drizzles; or dipped in dark chocolate, then rolled in patriotic sprinkles.

July 4th Strawberry & Cake Kabobs

Kabobs with Strawberries, White Angel Food Cake squares, and Blueberries.  Super simple – yum!
